Can it really be 1 year later?

Oh man, it's my birthday....and I really don't know what to feel about it.
I'm pretty sure that turning 30 was like an Early Mid Life Crisis for me....and now it's 1 year later.

Do I have all the answers? No
Do I feel wiser? No
Do I feel older? Yes
Do I feel Happy? hmmm, jury is out
Do I feel Peace? No

I'm seeing a theme here so let me write some things that were great about being older and having a birthday....

Drinking a Mimosa as a breakfast morning treat - wonderful!

Opening a fantastic present of jewelery from my darling husband - wow!

Dancing around naked to Happy Birthday sung by cats (yes, cats meowing are an instant laughter point)

Being taken out to dinner and having a great steak...mmmm
...we still agree Craft Steak in Las Vegas was The Best Steak.....but Ruth Chris last night was in the top contenders!

Going to sleep in the arms of someone that loves me unconditionally

Maybe this birthday was pretty good after all...

30 Days to Turning 30...It's here! I'm 30!

Waking up felt different...I was older...but I love my birthday as my husband is an expert at making me feel special. I let him know that I wanted it to be memorable....and it really was.

The actual day I was working...yes as you get older this happens. But I got a lot of emails, and hallway happy birthday wishes. My team also surprised me and got me a card, a present, AND a cake! They are great and it made me smile! Only 1 of them is over 30 and that's the boss, so they still liked to tease me a bit about the new decade I've entered...

My husband surprised me with an envelope "#1 of 3" and the adventure began....we went to Las Vegas for a few days (hence the catch up on the blog) and it was not to gamble but instead for a gastronomic adventure overload!

We stayed in a penthouse suite (loved it!) and then ate at 3 tiers of restaurants...

1. Emerils' Fish House - classic tv chef, all show and no food to back it up

2. Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak - the home of a $240 Kobe steak - Wow! I can't eat a normal steak again...

3. Joel Robuchon - 3 Michelin star adventure - 16 courses of food that tells a story that you will never forget - as well as the price tag you will never forget - but so worth it for an experience in a lifetime.

We also packed in a great time relaxing, sitting by the pool, drinking, talking, shopping, and gambling....which amounted altogether as the best adventure to turning 30 ever!

Maybe Turning 30 won't be so bad after all....

The 30 Days to Turning 30

Here I am, a 29 year old facing the precipice of turning the big 3-0! I’ve been dreading this for a while, but a few months ago it started to be come a reality and I physically felt my breath catch and my heart stop a beat at the thought of turning 30.

Why should I care, Age is just a number, Age is a state of mind, 40 is the new 30….blah blah blah. The rational part of my mind agrees, for as an actuary I know I have not even reached my expected half-life.
But the American modern woman in me sees it differently. I turn on the TV and the shows are full of the young ones. Jennifer Lopez is out, Miley Cyrus is in. The models on ANTM have to be below age 27. The contestants on American Idol have to be less than 30. You see the people come on the show and say “this is my last chance”. And what about the questionnaires you fill out every time you buy something, go somewhere “Age 20-29” is no more. It will now be “Age 30-39” Wow, it’s like I will have jumped into a whole new universe overnight, all for turning 30.

So, I decided today to face my fears and put it out there….I’m turning 30…..just caught my breath a bit but still going.

To catch you up on the adventure to turning 30.....

I've lost weight - 13 pounds in total..hooray!
I've "freshened" my face with a face peel - that literally made my face peel for a week after with red skin and puffiness - so not really the result I was looking for!
I've faced the fact that I'm turning 30....and embraced it with a Blog

Here comes the Lady Of The Beard....turning 30 in a blog near you!
